Can anyone recommend any good pubs in Skipton that take dogs and do good grub?

Not sure about dogs but the Narrowboat of course and the Castle - does draught Old Peculier.

weve done most pubs for drink in Skipton and sat outside many but never ate inside with the dogs. We cant leave them both aboard so we need to take them with us. Narrowboat or the Castle were the top 2 we were thinking of.

Herriots Hotel was a friendly enough place and the Narrowboat was very popular at my one and only visit....

 

Herriots is a cocks stride from the canal - The Narrowboat a few steps more.

 

The Narrowboat's name has been mocked on here because narrowboats are not native to the Leeds & Liverpool but it's a friendly and welcoming pub.

Last summer we went to a very friendly little pub in Canal Street (beside the Springs Branch) called The Royal Shepherd - had recently been taken over by very nice couple. Proper small local boozer, fine with dogs don't know about food as we didn't eat.

Don't know which direction you're travelling but the Cross Keys at East Marton - on the canal about six miles west of Skipton is an excellent pub for food and beer.

Most pubs in Skipton do food some good,some very good and it's a small Town centre so you are never far from a pub.However most will not allow dogs in the pub if you are eating,no problem if you sit outside and most have tables outside,just pick a nice day.

Was there last year on Skipton Sheep Day and had a nice meal in the Woolly Sheep Inn in Sheep Street, guess what Skipton is well known for!

Another vote for the Narrowboat, they have some fabulous beers on, think I've had a strawberry beer in there and maybe also a wheat beer, my favourite.

 

The food looks good too.

The Narrowboat definitely allows dogs in and carries a better range of beers than The Castle.

At one time you could drink Black Sheep in the Wooly Sheep in Sheep Street in 'sheep town'.

 

Thank goodness it is now a Taylor's house. Appropriately, they will sell you a pint of Ram Tam.

The Narrowboat is the place - happy with dogs and they really can keep their ale, and always a good choice of it as well. We always eat their ham and eggs - cold ham with beautifully done poached eggs and chunky chips. The food range is modest but very good. And a good selection of papers if you fancy a read.
