OldGoat
I am looking for an alternative mooring for a 70ft narrowboat. preferably within an hours drive of Oxford. Am on the River Thames and fancy a change and something a little cheaper Spoilt for choice:- Tim Langer's emporium at Cropredy - when it gets finished. Fenny marina, not much further along Cluster of marinae around Napton - Napton Marina, Wigram's Turn Calcutt, Ventnor Farm All have their strengths and weaknesses Edit: I suppose now you're going to say you want something bankside..... AutoRoute says 42.6 miles and 44 minutes to the Ashmolean from Napton village Edited December 28, 2012 by OldGoat
Nightwatch
Chatted to the owner of our moorings this afternoon,as it happens. He has two 40' moorings available. He may be happy for a 70 footer to take up the space. Basic moorings, adjacent to a working farm (organic pumpkins). Contact gregg'at'forgefarm.com There are at least 4 forum members moored at the farm. May not be 'your cup of tea' We like it. There are pilings to the edge of the land/water. You'd need to chat to Gregg about costs. Our costs have just increased by .1p per foot per week to .69p. Includes VAT and contribution to C&RT. Mention Martyn on Nightwatch please. Martyn

MtB
Indeed. I just moved from T&K Marina to Forge Farm and cut 40% off my mooring costs. OTOH I draw about 2 ft 6in and have trouble getting into the bank there. Martyn Yes I was wondering about that the other day, but the thread had gone to sleep so didn't bother revisiting. Still not cheap for basically no services.
