matty40s
Combat boating on 'Old Friends' on the Soar, in the dark, on one cylinder this evening was - fun... Richard I have to say a massive thank-you for dropping his previous plans and getting my engine bits back to me this afternoon so I could escape from my 5 week mooring. We left at 6.30pm on a rising river that was already on amber. We managed to reverse into Sileby lock,go down and reverse out, once it was clear that the Mill Maelstrom would not let us get the front end out, it was press the coldstart turbo and push the back end against the flow, using the nose to fulcrum off the towpath side (which will not be there tommorow). Then it was full speed ahead (sshh Richard, don't tell ...!!)past Mountsorrel and down to Barrow Deep where the red light brought a stop to proceedings. Looking at the next 5 days of low pressures, I do not see me moving any further soon.
