Notice that just came up on FaceBook

IMPORTANT NOTICE: I've just had a telephone call from British Waterways asking us to inform all of our customers that the Shropshire Union Canal is closed between bridges 56 and 57 due to a landslip. Contractors will hopefully be onsite on Monday to clear the obstruction. Waterways are having difficulty updating the Waterscape website which is why it is currently not listed on their site.

I've just walked that section (Saturday evening), and it's clear between the two bridges. But there is some evidence of broken branches etc on the towpath. Just hope that BW haven't got their bridge numbers wrong!

That's between Cheswardine Bridge and High Bridge in Woodseaves Cutting; narrow and quite shallow along there

BW have now announced a stoppage on Waterscape .....

29 Apr 2012 until further notice

Due to a bank slippage the navigation is currently closed to boat passage, and due to concerns with regards the forecasted weather will be closed over the weekend until further notice.
