BW_Anja
I just double checked with my colleague and we will not be able to claim Gift Aid for our fees and there will be no tax relief for those paying the fees either. Because what you are paying is a fee, not a donation. The way it works with museums for example is, that a part of the ticket price is a "voluntary donation" so they can claim Gift Aid for that. Here's a link to HM Revenue & Customs with the details http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/charities/gift_aid/basics.htm#3 Hope that clears it up Anja
Morat
Because the house is now owned by a trust, and the family pay rent to the trust for their private apartments. The trust exists to preserve the estate for the public to come and see it. Ahh, so that's how they've done it. I work for a similar estate and they've taken a different approach. It would be interesting to compare the two, although I suspect that Gift Aid didn't exist when the relevant decisions were taken here.
