lister LH 150 marine gearbox

I also recall that they suggested changing from EP80 to EP90 for warm weather.

As there are no helically cut gears in the box unlike the reduction gear if fitted which has and needs an EP gear oil engine oil should be ok in the box,so its probably just for hydraulic pressure reasons why the heavier gear oil is recommended.

Hi, i had a lister with an lh150 box until last year and the oil should NOT be ep80/90 ! it should be automatic transmission fluid (A.T.F) which is a light hydraulic oil , i would suggest you drain it overnight, flush through (and run for a minuit) with some diesel, and re-fill with the correct oil. only the LM150 uses the heavier oil.

There is no such thing as an LM150, and I have never seen either a manual or a plate on a box for the LH150 or LM100 that specifies ATF.

In general, the LM100 came with an instruction to use 20W50, and the LH150 to use EP 80/90.
