Can anyone tell me what engine this is?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Marine-diesel-engine-10-horsepower-with-gear-box-/170930652393?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_Boat_Engines_EngineParts_SM&hash=item27cc42c4e9

No reserve?

Could be the best penny that bidder has ever spent

Theya re only bidding for information not for the boat. The seller is trying to avoid ebay fees.

No.

Clean off all the dust and there might be more chance of guessing ;)

My first thought was Petter but now I don't think it is. Probably an import.

It looks to have a Dynastart fitted, if I'm right that might be worth more than the engine.

Probably a tad long for a narrowboat but this neat looking Lister FR6M with gearbox wouldn't be too powerful with 54 bhp. Think of the fun to be had with six compression change-over levers as well

Yes I've been watching that. Rather nice isn't it.

Hector (a Roger Fuller Boat) has got one it. Very nice it is too.

ETA that power rating is at 1800 rpm I believe. Could it be de-rated to say 1500 or 1300 rpm?

Yes with that black knob top left of picture ;)

Or you could couple it to your Speedwheel :D

Looks like the K1 didn't sell. Here's cheaper Kelvin, though maybe a tad too powerful.

and maybe a Lister HA/B3?

The T3 is similar power to the R6 which I have for sale, the T3 was apparently not very well regarded whereas the T6 and T8 are.

The R6 is a nice motor ;)

That's a small Lister, SR or similar.

Back on at reduced starting price.

Relisted AGAIN, having sold for £600, then come unsold again it would appear.

Given this is in Hemel Hempstead, might this be the actual engine from HECTOR? I have it in mind the owner of HECTOR lives up Hemel way.

I PMed the seller of the Lister the other day. he doesn't know for sure what it is, but said he thinks it is a TS3 or SR3.

Not a TS, could be an ST

It looks gorgeous and somebody has done a great job on it - externally at least. But at 4 h.p. it would not be much use for narrowboat propulsion. Would maybe power a launch or tender?

Then as soon as something goes pop you'd have to have pieces made up from scratch, unless you are far cleverer than me and can fabricate them yourself.

Not to mention it runs on petrol!
