Just read in BW Boaters update that pump out cards are going up in price from tomorrow from £10 to £14.75. I have just successfully bought 2 online at the old price so HURRY now if you need some!

Err - that is a whopping hike in price but to be fair brings it up to around we have been used to paying for a marina based self operated PO.

Does any one know if BW cards can be used all over as I have some BW kennet and avon cards but I was told that I can not use on GU or Oxford

although I have not tried.

The wording on the link posted says this -

The 25 unit card allows one pump out of your boat at any BW pump out facility (does not include waterway business pump out machines, such as BWM Ltd). Also, if you have a BW pump out card you can use BW showers for free.

My bold.

From my travels around the system, I would say, 'don't bank on it.' It's amazing how many different cards they do.

I can't think of anywhere on either of these two canals that take these cards

I don't "do" pump-out, but aren't there BW pump out machines at at least Brentford and Little Venice ?

Or do you pay for those some other way ?

The pump out vouchers on sale from Stonebridge lock don't work at Little Venice, and the vouchers sold from Jena (Paddington Basin)don't work at Kilby Bridge or Market Harborough!!!!!!!!!

Pot Lmuck if you ask me.

Sudden nasty thought - what the blazes is going to happen when the dodgy charity takes over next year?

Will licences prepaid be valid?

Will these cards be valid?

does any one at Mitlon Keynes aka Willow Grange care?

I noticed the bit about them not being cheaper than the commercial operators. The obviously have not looked around the pricing in the midlands.

Limekiln at Compton £10, Anglo Welsh £15 (inc Blue), ABC £15........ and oh yes some body else does the dirty work for you

Robbing Evans needs to bolster his bonus....again

Not all commercial operators do the dirty work for you though. The PO machine at Mercia marina is self operated.

partly :smiley_offtopic:

You can't buy pump out cards or electricity cards at Stonebridge anymore. The cafe /canoe centre closed down yesterday. It's supposedly being pulled down, to build a super duper new facility and the current tenants couldn't afford the tender - they wanted a small fortune. Who (apart from the current tenants) is going to want to rent a canoe centre for squillions of pounds in war torn Tottenham? Trade has been dire since the riots - down by two thirds. You will have to go to Paddington to buy cards for the pump out, and laundry room. Way to go, BW. :(

There are very few places you can buy the cards. The cafe at Hatton stopped stocking them because they have to be bought outright and sold, not on sale or return. This locks up a lot of money for a slow selling item with small profit

I read that about Stonebridge last week on LondonBoaters

, is it just the cafe and canoe centre, or is it the new meeting room/showers/laundry that is going too.

That will mean even less security around there, and like you say, who is going to pay a kings ransom to open up a new venture in the capital of ghettos (daily snail)

Yeh, I thought I would purchase 4 at the old price, which will see me right for the next 12 months or so or not and negates the need to lug shit around in a plastic container every couple of days in all weather.

Ahh, the luxury....

Do they get a profit on them now?
