hi just looking for advice on paints iam fitting out new narrowboat and not happy paint finnish from builder.

 

iam going to have the shell blasted and start again looking for advice on hull blacking what types.

 

primers undercoats and top coats for cabin and what makes are avaliable ane approx cost ie suppliers.thanks lookforward.

Topside - Craftmaster. No connections other that I am 'Happy Bunny' with the results.

If I was going back to a blasted steel I would go for two pack black on the hull up to gunwale level, I know it fades a bit but it can always be overcoated with cheap black gloss when it does.

Topsides I don't know as I had my boat painted a few years ago and within 18 months the paint was falling off the roof, painted on bare steel and micro blisters on the handrails, cants and other flat surfaces

I assume...if you went to bare metal....you will use an etch primer...otherwise...the paint will fall off the roof..and you will get micro blisters...

Hi

 

Dulux trade, it sticks it doesnt fade very quickly and it does not have a stupid price tag. Trees will scrape it off whatever you pay for it.
