Iceman
Hi I am restoring a former ice boat. It has a 1944 Ailsa Craig Ricardo RF1. I'm trying to find out how common this engine is. Anyone out there got one ?
steamraiser2
Well actually..its not. There are a few FR2s around but essentially Ailsa Craigs are a rare beast these days.
zenataomm
As I said in a previous thread concerning your boat (I can't search for it from my Gooseberry)if it is the same engine Erebus had in the 80's you have a cartridge breech starter and the wrong flywheel (in the 80's she was swinging one from a two cylinder) It was overhauled by John Edwards of Gas Street fame. Good luck with her, I envy you.

I understand that the incorrect flywheel allows the use of a starter motor. Thanks for your comments. I appreciate them.
