canaldrifter
News item .....there’s a snag. In 1967, East Riding County Council replaced the bridge at Wansford with a fixed rather than a swing-bridge. There was very little waterway traffic at the time and little prospect of any significant growth. This bridge left little headroom for getting any kind of vessel through. It’s only two miles from Riverhead, but seems to be a bridge too far for enthusiasts to overcome. Tone
magpie patrick
News item Tone £1.5 million sounds about right as it would have to take 40 tonne loads, be two way and powered. I did a study of the whole canal in 2002 and gave a quote then, can't recall what it was though. Delightful little waterway, needs a slipway above the bridge so trailables can do the top bit.
