Nbs Firedragon and Waterdragon

Hi all!

I have chosen my boatbuilder for my two narrowboats, Firedragon and Waterdragon. The deposit was paid last week and that secures my build slots in September. One boat will be ready by mid-September, the other by the end of September (fingers crossed :( ) They will be delivered as shell + engine. The good point is that there will be no intermediate payment until the shell is completely built and the engine installed and tested.

For now, nothing more of course, but in July or August I will set up a website to record every moment of this new adventure.

Hi Marc,

Wow, 2 boats and great names, this will be interesting.

Come on, tell us more, what are your plans / specifications?

Hi all!

Ok... a bit more about the boats... otherwise Moley might turn into even funnier colours!

Both will be 57ft6in long with a 3ft6in long squared stern and a 5ft long bow deck. They will be a pair of hotel boats (bookings later on!)

Waterdragon will accommodate a maximum of 7 guests in three cabins - one twin, one double (both sharing one toilet/bathroom) and one twin/double (optional triple) with en-suite bathroom/toilet. There will also be a small lounge with library and DIY tea/coffee. Besides, a crew of 2 (or 3) will have their own accommodation with small toilet/shower compartment at the back of the craft.

Firedragon will be the main craft with captain's accommodation, one extra single, galley and dining area. Something I would like to include here (but am yet undecided about) is a composting toilet and a pellet stove.

I'll scan some plans I've made and post them later.

Your comments and suggestions will be most welcome.

Hello Marc

Do you have experience running a similar business and have you researched the likely demand for it?

regards

Steve
