And not before time too. The existing building is decrepid and an eye sore. Hopefully they will see fit to increase the number of visitor moorings in the pool to allow those wishing to visit Lincoln by water the chance to do so. The existing mooring situation isnt great with only a small section of designated BW visitor mooring outside the university which is often full and then a section outside the Waterside Retail centre which is only accessible by boats that can go through the Glory Hole.

Having visited Lincoln by boat... excellent stuff!

As has already been said. There simply has to be more visitors moorings. When we were there 2 narrowboats and a Broom 30 filled em. We spent a few 100 quid while we were there for 2 nights, and would do so again. Lincoln would make an excellent boating visitor destination, IF it could actually accomodate visitors.

Oh and make the fossedyke less boring.

Always nice to see some regeneration taking place but does Brayford Pool really need yet another eaterie?

As for visitor moorings that would be great. However, I recall speaking to a lady from BW at the Waterside Festival (3 years ago?) and she said that although all the old decaying wooden moorings and pilings were to be taken away there was'nt any plans to replace with new moorings - unless they've changed their minds in the meantime. Its would be a shame if they dont because with the new Fens Link well under way at the Boston end it would be a sinful to lose the potential boating trade passing through.

I absolutely love Lincoln.............and if anyone in the neighbourhood is interested Lincoln Cathedral is haveing an open day this saturday 9-4 Free entry too!

The visitor mooring situation in Lincoln is poor as you say. There are alternatives for those who can get through the Glory Hole. There are moorings avaliable outside the Waterside Shopping Centre and also just before you get to Stamp End Lock on the left hand side. Neither is signposted so those unfamiliar with the area may not know that mooring there is permitted. It is a shame that BW dont see fit to introduce more visitor moorings on their section of river. The Brayford Trust have installed new moorings for their clients, Lincoln Boat Club is installing new moorings for their members in the near future and Lincoln Marina have decent moorings for their moorers.

A word of warning, mooring is possible on the wooden viewing platform but dont try to moor on the adjacent flood walls. The piling for the old visitor moorings is still in place beneath the surface of the water, plus it is very shallow in the edge.

The last alternative is to anchor up in the area adjacent the island then dinghy across to the shore.
