I see from the new Waterways World that Fernwood's Whitfield is for sale for, wait for it, £170,000.

Complete with totally impractical cratch cover.

What do the members think it would really sell for?

I dont think it will sell any time soon. Its is a rich mans folly. No more than that motorised butty thats been on ABNB for I dont know how long but at least a year.

As to what its worth, if someone came along who fancied it they my pay short of £100k. If I was the owner I would take advice and see what a boat builder could do at reasonable cost to make it more conventional and thus saleable. Like taking away the joy stick caper and raised rear seats. Then the buyer has to have a reality check to understand its true value. But you never know to some very wealthy people, maybe the owner is one them, to lose £70k or more might not be a big event

Form what I can remeber from the magazine article they own a recruitment agency. Yachts, Meditteranean and pilots licence were mentioned if I remember right. So yes probably new money that has gone to their head!

It's old news I'm afraid it was mentioned on here some weeks ago.

It does however seem one hell of a lot of money for a boat.

So sorry if you think it is old news.

As it is the subject of a full page ad in WW which I received today, I did think it had a certain amount of topicality.

Ok then

- did you consider a search before you posted this 'revelation' about one of the most talked about boats on the cut in recent years?

oh Martin, stop trying to have a fight, laugh at the expensive boats its more fun

Re Whitefield, If they put proper steering I'd hire it for a holiday week if i was feeling flush. It would be like living in a mobile porn set for a week

I like Whitefield

I'm not a purist so I think the design - especially those funky windows is radical and it appeals to me

So apart from the vulnerable cratch, the dodgy steering, and the price - those three things aside - what's wrong with it?

Not trying to have a fight honest injun just feel the whole 'whitfield is a pile of expensive crap' thing has been dome to death now. Happy for others to bat on though.

Forgive me if I don't join in.
