The Glory Hole

Featured Posts

Well you're speaking to one who has lived in Lincoln for 40 years

Plus as you begin to descend the stairs at the High Street the street name "Glory Hole" is clearly fixed

I shall bow down to your superior knowledge of the area

Although I note that almost all of the tourist guides (I googled it just now) do call the arch over the water "The Glory Hole" (except one in the first ten that names it High Bridge) - but I suspect that is because it has become common usage

The Glory Hole also used to be called the Murder Hole and there used to be a market on the bridge.

(Just another piece of useless information from the Fairy! )

As I'm only a few hours downstream from Lincoln, I must try and visit in the summer ( if we get one this year after the Global Cooling! ) but I'm a bit worried about headroom. Does anyone know the airdraught under the bridges?

Officially 9'8" but much depends on the water levels.

We get through with our canopy up if we take the nav gear and hoop off of the top with a few inches to spare at normal summer levels.
