"Total distance is 346.10 miles and 261 locks. There are at least 43 moveable bridges of which 4 are usually left open; 45 small aqueducts or underbridges; 8 tunnels and 1 major aqueduct."

On 28 July I set off from Brentford, I am now in Clarence Dock drinking a beer

Thank you all for your company and advice

Well done. Clarence Dock is a fittingly awesome end to your trip - go to Mumtaz opposite your mooring and have an amazing chicken karai to celebrate. River Lock is fun, just the tiny steps on the river end, tricky if its windy, and the run through Leeds under the bridges is rather special I think. I hope you enjoy your stay, will look out for you if we're crusing around Rodley over winter. Saltaire/Shipley is probably better for trains communications wise, but Rodley is on the bus route into Leeds.

yeah, River lock was fun I'm glad i had crew for the last day though. Coming through the bridges on the big wide river & then turning into Clarence Dock was awsome.

I'll be back & forth between Rodley & Skipton for a while...

I shut them behind me

Hi Lone Wolf

Just logged on to your thread, as like you, we have just completed London to Leeds having left Brentford on 6th September and arrived in Clarence Dock late monday.

You must have slipped in after we got back to the boat yesterday afternoon, just looked out of the cratch and spotted you.

Will pop over later to compare notes, having done the Thames gave me the courage to do the Trent, first times on Tidal rivers :lol::lol:

Well done. sounds like an interesting trip.

Good stuff, I'm DEAD jealous,. never got to go that far, give us a shout if you get over Johnsons Hillock/Chorley way and I'll come and say hello. If you get past Wigan take an excursion to Burscough then turn right to Tarleton, it's a unique stretch down the Rufford arm and isn't promoted enough for it's different-ness and beauty. The stretch from Crooke (after Wigan) to Burscough is lovely too, unlike the bit from Wigan to Crooke (only an hour or two!!).

Well done, respect!!

Two and a half months! Did you swim? With your hands tied behind your back?! :-)

Seriously tho, nice one. What a way to travel!

#18

Congratulations LoneWolfe, that's a huge journey in a NB. I dont' think twice about driving that distance for one night. Your journey is something I would like to do myself in the coming years

ha ha. I dont do to many hours in a day, I'm by myself so it gets a bit tiring...

I had 10 days diversion on the ashby and 3 5 day stops plus several non moving chore days. I'll check the log later to see how many actual travelling hours it took me - twice as long as the canalplan i reckon

Check out the Grove pub on Fridays, they have great little folk club.

AND Dalesman ales.

About 1/4 mile south of Leeds main railway station. An old Victorian osis of a pub in a new developemnt of Office blocks.

Google for "Grove Folk Leeds".

Leaving 8.00 am tomorrow. Sorry to have missed you, like you we will be around Bingley Skipton during Nov Dec will keep an eye out for you.

If you have an electric hook up there's a few quid left on number 4 point nearest to the pier/water side if you are staying over.

All the best
