Hello all,

I'm a newbie here, only joined two days ago, but already i have learnt an awful lot regarding boating thanks to your helpful replies to other newbie questions. My basic question is, what are the costs involved in buying a narrowboat? I'm aware of the survey cost (£500-800?), and the cost of "lifting out " for the survey (£200),and the licence's needed, but thats all I seem to be able to find out about. The main sticking point is "brokerage fees"? Are they applicable to the buyer, or just the seller? Many thanks for any replies.

Just the seller i believe

There are a couple of 'what are the costs' threads here that list all the other expenses; licence, insurance, BSS compliance costs etc

Dont spend ALL your cash on the boat - make sure you have a contingency fund as well
