Mrs. Mole
Good morning people. Moley has set me a task today. to seek out some new glow plugs. Now easier said than done! (He's gone to work all stressed hoping they will let him have some time off to meet the surveyor.) I have a box from a spare we had but am having trouble finding ones the same. ( UGP23) You need to know too much information on line about your car model etc! Can you good people inform me of some various codes for the different manufacturers , or even links if you have them. Save me sitting here all morning, I can then do some ironing ........ but on second thoughts!! Thank you all in anticipation. xxx Edited February 23, 2009 by Mrs. Mole

Don't promise you'll find any, but here is some information I dug out last year:- For BMC1.5:- PCH-32 Bosch 0250200035 Lucas DS-012 Champion CH-32 Beru 112M0100221101 For BMC1.8:- PCH-62 Bosch 0250200053 Lucas DS-051 Champion CH-62 Others PAF-12, TIX7A, CN3229, FAI LP001 A word of warning, check which head is fitted, they can be swapped! koukouvagia
Have you tried Calcutt Boats? They're very knowledgable about all things BMC. KK
Mrs. Mole
Thanks, will get searching on line. Our local chandlers is closed today otherwise would have gone over to them. May phone Calcutt if I draw a blank.
alan_fincher
ASAP Supplies is one possibility.... http://www.asap-supplies.com/ It's not easy to link to an actual page, but if you go to "Engine Drive & Spares" then "Spares for BMC, Leyland, Landrover" then "BMC 1.5 diesel" You can find..... 131050 GLOW PLUG BMC1.5 & EARLY BMC1.8/2.5Popular 12volt glow plug as fitted to BMC1.5, early BMC1.8 and early BMC2.52 diesel engines. EACH £14.23 ONLINE PRICE £12.55 Not cheap though, even with online discount, and possible maybe to find much cheaper elsewhere. As Robin says, a 1.5 may prove to actually have a 1.8 head on. ASAP have those too, £10.23 (£9.03 Online Price). They are usually very quick on delivery, if it's urgent. UPDATE. Ebay might be the way to go..... If these are the right ones, they are a fraction of the price of ASAP Supplies.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GLOW-PLUGS-BMC-LEYLA...%3A1|240%3A1318 If you search "BMC Glow Plug" you get quite a few hits, it seems, although not all are for the 1500 engine. Mrs. Mole
Thanks Alan, that link helps a lot. (now I know this next bit is not too technical - apologies in advance!) It looks like the 1.5 is the correct one as it appears to have a thinner end bit than the 1.8 plug - sorry. We are not desparate, Talpidae is not going anywhere for the next few days! And the ebay link - brilliant - thanks. Edited February 23, 2009 by Mrs. Mole
