"Van rescued from canal"

Featured Posts

Just spotted this on the front of the "Pendle Express", looks like someone pushed a stolen ford escort van into the L&L just below the lock by bridge 143, and was under the M65 bridge, thankfully no-one had been killed or drowned in the incident as the van had been pushed from the adjacent car park and into the water...

But, looking at the picture the pound has been completely drained, not that it really matters as there's a stoppage either end of there, so if you're wondering why there's less water than usual, there's your answer...

I wish I could find the story online, but, I can't find it...

Why do these people steal stuff if they're just going to dump it?

It's not about acquiring property by theft, it's about power. Any useless waster can exercise power over you by stealing your property and destroying it. It is about making you angry, upset and prey to impotent rage. This and the ability to assault and injure someone weaker is the only power some people will ever wield and they do so in order to feel that they have some importance and cannot be ignored.

That's my theory anyway.

And very well put Sir Nibs - I can see a lot of sense in what you say

It's a shame that won't ever be known as "the power to get one's self shot"

Very eloquently put S'nib. Some of our local wasters exercised their power around Blisworth at the weekend by smashing the windows of two boaters' cars and ransacking the insides. They then reinforced their power by torching another boater's almost new camper van....

At the end of that they not only felt that they can do as they please, they had proved it. THEY are in charge of what you may or may not have and what you can do with it. That's power.

And of course, where are the police whilst all this is going on? ....sitting on the A43 in their number plate recognition van.

I think you hit the nail on the head there, and as the police are more about "Slap-on-the-wrist" punishments these days, they'll never learn the hard way that crime does not pay...
