hscott
Hi there Planning on doing the Thames Ring this summer, and should value any information or experiences anyone has of this ring. We attempted it many years ago, but as there were young children on board, we got as far as Oxford and turned round! The Thames was a bit daunting! However, we're now a fully adult crew, and braved the Severn last year, so now are looking forward to our next challenge! The last time we attempted this route, we went anti-clockwise - does this sound correct? Any suggestions/tips/places to go/avoid? Also, am I mad in thinking it's possible to navigate the Thames beyond Brent lock towards the city, up to Limehouse Basin? I've seen narrowboats on the Thames when I've been going to work...just wondered if this is possible/advisable! Thanks for any feedback!
colinjw
Hi hscott, See my post from yesterday in General Boating, Grand Thames Circle. I think going ACW takes advantage of the current in the Thames. Enjoy it, we did. Colin
