Cressy was broken up and burnt at Stone, but I understand that bits and pieces, including the door panels and other bits were given away.

However, as Cressy was an exceptionally well known boat even then, I am assuming that the various saved parts were appreciated by the recipients as notable.....so where are all those bits now? Anyone know?

Also....after a bit of light reading recently.....what happened to Avondale? Ailsa Craig? Malvern Hill? Heron? These are all boats whose names crop up again and again from the early campaigning years of the IWA. Did any of these boats survive?

Last time I saw Beatrice was in 1953 at Shepherds Patch on the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal . I believe she was sold shortly afterwards but I dont know where she went.

I understand that Beatrice along with the wideboat Progress are up the Troy Cut at Harefield supposedly being (slowly) restored.

Beatrice was moored at Camden Lock during the seventies and when the family moved off it did indeed go to the “Stinkhole”. In the early 90s I was asked by the owner if I’d like to have the boat – for free!! But when I saw the state it was in, slowly rotting away, hogged and in a very sorry condition I turned the offer down seeing huge bills looming. I do hope someone had deep enough pockets to rescue this historic boat.
