Whale
We are thinking of doing the Fens sometime next year, and neither Nicholsons nor Pearsons cover the fenlands. Does anyone know of a published guide (Northampton to Bedford and Cambridge). Many thanks!

Does anyone know of a published guide (Northampton to Bedford and Cambridge). Many thanks! Nicholson did once do a guide, I had to get mine 2nd hand (There is one for sale here) Imray guides also cover these rivers. Tim
pearley
We came down the Nene in July using the Pearsons Guide and Imray, then Middle Levels using Imray. This guide only shows public bridges so all the private ones are missing. Got caught out coming from Ramsey to March when we had to move everything up to the front of the boat to get under a bridge. The Imray guide we are using for the Ouse and Cam is dated 1999 - there is a newer one available - but a lot of the info is wrong, particularly max lengths of boats. If you can get hold of the EA map this gives a lot more info but still has some bits missing. For instance, the air draught of the foorbridge about 100 yards before Bedford lock which at 2.10m is a bit important when the river is higher than normal. Join GOBA before you come as it doubles the amount of mooring space available to you on the Ouse although some one them are to be avoided.
stewey
There are some useful free downloads (including a Fens Waterways Guide) here: http://www.visitthefens.co.uk/exec/133685/7620/ Stewey
NB Willawaw
We navigated from the GU to Cambridge and Bedford using the Imray guides (three books in all). There are a few errors in them, but they are generally useful. We have posted pics on the other forum.
Jason Wilson and Family
Wow, those charts brought back memories. As a child on the beach at Hunstanton in 89 or 90 I looked across the wash and asked my da if the land I saw was America. Now I'm older and Google maps informs me I had likely deeply insulted some proud English farmers.

The "Engineers" bridge is about 3/4 inch higher than the bridge over the lock so take care. Pictures of this part of the river can be found on the Priory Moorers website: clicky Today the river is about a foot above normal

FadeToScarlet
I know, we are stuck on the visitor moorings at Priory until it subsides. Give us a wave as you pass! And we (Lucky Duck and Warrior) are stuck in Northampton, doing the Nene Wait.
