POLICE were called in to defuse the latest flare-up in a long-running canal boat saga.

Officers were summoned to Mirfield Marina after barge owners cut down a metal post and demolished part of a wall to get a crane into the boatyard.

Sounds like they need an injunction and then the police would have to get involved, but on behalf of "the boaters".

You would think, that with a pub called the Navigation adjacent to a marina full of potential customers the landlord would go out of his way to be accommodating wouldn't you?

His he a bit of a nutter?

Isn't this the pub where the Northern Banter was held last year? What's up with the bloke Gary?

Maybe thats the reason why he's taken a sudden dislike to boaters... only joking!

He might as well lock the door of the pub than do what he's currently doing... it'll have the same outcome = a major drop in sales/profit.

Absolutely right m'Lady. I'm sure if he'd had the time, Wilf would have knocked up a suitable contrivance to simultaneously circumvent the obstructions, manoeuvre the boats and insert the rough end of a pineapple up the hapless landlord, during the conception of which the fascinated onlookers are entertained by a brisk stroll through the youngsters' picture gallery, jauntily accompanied by the much-loved signature tune music....
