We're hoping to get along there this year, but we haven't time to take the boat so will stay with friends in Barnton.

We're likely to be going to the sessions rather than the concerts, that's if dogs are allowed in the pubs.

Been a few times, but only once by boat. Already have planned to go again this year, this time with the boat.

Maybe if a few of us are going we could arrange a meet some time over the weekend as Smudge says. I'm up for it

:) we went last year by boat, and if you want a decent mooring best get there handy as in at least 3 days before hand!!

And best to go to the 'BOARS HEAD' just up from the old church, heading out of town, as most musicians meet for a 'jam' after all concerts, later that night, but dont expect to be in bed before 2am! It was great way to meet old and new friends, but no good if you have to be up early. [unfortunately we were burning the candle at both ends due to us being a floating shop and so where open for business around 9am!!

After the weekend we retired up the middlewich arm, [shropshire branch] and caught up on our sleep and 'gave our livers a rest'.. We heard later that the street performances were good too, unfortunately we were too busy to go look see.

We're going! But we'll be on the last minute in the boat so we may be at Rumps Lock or halfway up the Middlewich arm! We went last year and it was excellent, and not just because we started the weekend as freinds and came away as a couple! :) It's well organised and unusually for a folk festioval it's actually in the town, so you really are spending the weekend in Middlewich and not just at the festival, and pubs, chip shops, supermarkets are all to hand.

Meet up sounds good, look out for us and Ripple: perhaps we could even agree a place and time...?

Well, I made it down on the Saturday, but unfortunately not on the boat.

We arrived at about 11.30 and left around 3.00. I walked from just below Big Lock up to just above Kings Lock.

Pictures can be found in the gallery on my website here.

Liam - we probably walked past each other -

We met freinds and stayed saturday night in the hold of a working boat about 3 out - thanks Lucy et all... twas great

Was our first visit arrived saturday @18.30 walked from the town past Big lock to past Kings lock to see the variety of boats.. not bad - some nice vartiations from the southern gu.

after a couple of cold beers be wandered down to the Chesire Cheese - Black sheep ale was on offer.. and accetable quaffing

An ok folk band where entertaining (but they could have smiled a bit) and we decided to stay there and then saw the The Band Fron County Hell - Very good fun - ala pogues in attitude and did a couple of their numbers as well as their own original songs,,, - if you seem them playing - go see,, Also saw Colin from who we met at Crick aka Dr Bradley

we then de-camped to the Boars Head having heard that they were serving beer and had music to past 4 am on fri/sat...

twas bleedin packed... some music in one bar - drownded out by the hum of people chatting

another room and some serious folkies ....(Sorry Brendan - but we kinda didnt get some of the others- We met him by chance but had also been Christmas day guests with him at mutual friends in BC Hic!)) and we had more beers until we retired for cocoa and whiskeys,,

We reccommend and will return..
