Not sure I buy it being a H&L either.

 

Those dead vertical cabin sides are not their style. Nor did they build low hull/tall cabin style boats.

There seems to be a contradiction in the ad, after initially saying it's a 1949 H&L it then goes on to say the hull may have been a tug or butty (c1949) that was then converted in the 70s/80s by H&L. I like the bit that says she has some real history to her, maybe so but no one seems to know what it is!

I think they made the whole lot up. 

 

I cannot imagine H&L buying a day boat and grafting a motor stern and a cabin to it! Just not their style.

Nothing in the photographs in the ad to suggest that any part of this boat dates back to 1949, or incorporates part of any former working boat.
