I knew it wasn't Gloucester Lock (and said so), I had the idea in my head it was the length of the canal to Sharpness not just Sharpness Lock, which reading the notice again I see was my mistake.

Gloucester lock is still big enough to give you that rubber duck in a bathtub impression with a narrowboat!

When I went I didn't find Gloucester Lock as intimidating as Upper Lode Lock, which felt like it was the same size as Bancroft Basin! I was hoping to get down to Sharpness this summer as I heard Tenacious is living there now but it will alas have to be another year now.
