Steve Manc Posted July 27 Report Posted July 27 Hi Yesterday whilst going through low hanging trees out TV Arial snapped. Has anyone one fitted one as shown in the photo? Can you please let me know the process of refitting it ? Thankfully we have a spare magnetic one that sits on the roof and plugs into the 12v charging point.
Tony Brooks Posted July 27 Report Posted July 27 I think the "squirrel cage" needs at least one and possibly two electrical connection to the coax TV aerial cable, or if it has an integral amplifier, to the amplifier. It also seems that you have broken the plastic mounting base for the "squirrel cage". I think that may mean a new one is the easiest way to go. I note that there is a screw that looks to be holding the sleeve to the roof mount, if you remove that screw you may be able to pull the sleeve off for closer inspection and repair inside the boat. If you post a photo looking straight down onto top the broken bit on the boat we might be able to see the electrical connections.
Steve Manc Posted July 27 Author Report Posted July 27 Hi Tony Thanks for your reply Agree I will have to fit a new one I had to remove the Ariel once whilst going under a bridge on the Huddersfield Narrow. There was a white wire that came out of the upstand as shown in the photo that went into the top part that has snapped off.
