My vote is certainly Bot.  Id be very happy to be proved wrong though, but I'm not holding my breath.

Let's not forget...

 

1) Team Mod claims to run bot-checks on all new posters. 

2) Team Mod says new posters' initial posts are mod-queued for AI content-checking.

3) Team Mod has asked us to report suspected AI traffic rather than debate on-forum their bot/AI status, or otherwise. 

 

 

Notwithstanding all that, I reckon its a young human posting, not a bot.

We'd like to know a little more, otherwise we'll probably carry on mucking about. What do you want to learn about, what skills have you got we can learn from? What kind of boats are you interested in? This being a forum, communication has to go two ways...

Checking the forum rules and guidelines, spelling mistakes and non standard English are not grounds for not approving a new user's posts. A pile on, like this, is exactly why this forum has a reputation for being harsh on newbies. Speculation as to their organic, or silicon heritage is also not helpful, or respectful. If they post within the forum rules, they are free to do so. If they don't, then report the post.

And if a poster starts a thread and then fails to engage with responses, surely members here are also free to comment provided they do it within the forum rules. There is no rule stating posts must be helpful, or respectful as far as I know. If there is could you point it out please? I can think of plenty of posts in other threads to report which breach one or both of those requirements, if they exist!!

Just because a new poster's spelling or assumed literacy, by those who engagee in 'newbie bashing' is not up to forumite's par, does not invite insults of 'bot', 'AI', etc. Just awaiting the favourite 'troll' comment of someone !

There are some right howlers of spelling mistooks 😉 regularly from some on here, but no-one criticises them.

Not everyone sits at their keyboard all the time to give immediate response, and assuming the poster is genuine and reads those comments, its no wonder newbies retaliate in fashion or disappear, in which case, its job done, forum !

Well if those are the expectations you need more attentive moderation. Over the last month I’ve trawled the site, reading threads posted over the last fifteen years.  The amount of off-topic content, personal attack, political comment was a surprise as it dilutes and distracts from all the good stuff.  Often the same members are responsible for both.  I have never seen a moderation comment explicitly advising or making clear the guidelines or ‘cleaning up’ overtly.   I’m all for light touch but you have areas for tin foil hat wearing types that should contain all the nonsense.  My first impression wasn’t a great one but I have the skin of a righteousness and the sword of rhinoceros to protect me.

Personally I doubt that will happen to you, apart from by a very few idiots, because your posting style does not try to tell those with experience that they are wrong and assert you are correct. It is almost certain that you will have the reasons that your ideas might not be the best, but not attract insults. Sometimes the insults and suppositions arise from sheer frustration by a posters apparent refusal to engage with people trying to answer their questions. 

 

If the OP engaged a bit more and talked about their plans and hopes we would find it much easier to believe they are human.
