The English-built planes would be spelled "Concord" and the froggy-built ones, "Concorde". I don't remember the acute accent on the letter 'e' ever being there.

Blackcurrant and apple is bearable. Bring back Kia-Ora. It’s to orangey for crows. Maybe they’re the Plates de Concorde? Edited July 26 by The History Man 1 1

Mods, please delete this thread or next thing we know, checking the crockery will be the latest item to be added to the BSS. Edited July 26 by MtB 1
Russ T Posted July 27 Author Report Posted July 27 Well, for those of you making a mockery of our crockery, you'll be glad to know we survived breakfast. Tonight's chilled Shard-on-ay is strictly going in paper cups, though. We're no mugs. There's no point crying over split Duralex 1
Hudds Lad Posted July 27 Report Posted July 27 Have you considered replacing them with plates of a more modern, safer material, like melamine?

Yes,I have. Before that. No I hadn't. Why would I? One does not expect to be attacked by ones crockery, even if it is over 30 years old.😂

IanD Posted July 27 Report Posted July 27 15 hours ago, Jen-in-Wellies said: Duralex is a tempered glass. The heat treatment in manufacture that makes it very tough and long lasting, means that when it does let go, it utterly destroys itself and anything/one within the blast radius! We used to have some of those Duralex mugs, and a tiled kitchen floor. It pays to be good at catching, like in cricket... Dropped one while drying up, it bounced right back up off the floor with a loud bell-like ringing sound -- tempered glass on tile over concrete has a high coefficient of restitution, a bit like those powerballs you used to get -- then did it again when I missed it, but the third time was the winner when it exploded into hundreds of tiny bits of glass that went all over the kitchen... 😞

When the factory was threatened with closure, it was crowdfunded in to a worker's cooperative.

It also fits very nicely in the rack. The plates a slightly smaller than today's sized plates, and the mugs stack.nicely on top of each other. It brings on a whole nother meaning to hug in a mug
