Let the litterbox jokes begin.

I'm starting out today on my new-to-me boat.  Many new sites, problems, joys and mistakes to be encountered.  And many questions.

First, what are my chances of finding a mooring near Hawksbury Junction, coming from Nuneaton, if I arrive say around 3pm?  Obviously a popular place.  I'll be setting off from Springwood Haven around noon.

No problem if you stop before you get to the junction (and the best spots)- if you go through the lock you may get lucky immediately after the lock- or may have to pin around the corner. After that there will be miles of moorings.

Nearer the pub you try the less the chance!

You need to hit the sweet spot between those leaving who stopped for lunch and the ones who've done for the day.

Much like @PaulJ has said you've more chance on the approach to the junction, once through it's pot luck for the honeypot moorings, would not recommend the corner itself but once round it there's plenty by the substation bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :D

It was quite quiet when we came through a fortnight ago on the Coventry Visitor moorings but quite a few boats moored further towards Springwood Haven, so don't stop too soon

We're out and about for a few weeks on the 23rd, unsure where headed yet but in case we manage to pass @TheShipsCat, give us a shout and wave :D

Although the good lady wife has floated the idea of visiting Crick (despite her saying never ever again after the last time), depends on the weather i guess.

I should leave time for answers before setting off!  Moored after the lock on  just a weensy bit of a curve.  All that was there. I was just so hungry and thirsty and...

At the pub now.

There use to be on the offside behind the building that stands back from the waterpoint , not sure if its still there. Just after bridge 58. The recycling point is often doubtful . Next after that is Braunston , again offside at the junction.

Right.  Thanks.  I'll stop clogging this thread with that kind of question now.

Please don't worry about asking questions :)

As anyone who has left there boat for a day can confirm,  those sorts of places are impossible to forecast.  One day there can be loads of spaces,  and the next day it can be jam packed.

Oh, I took it as no admonishment.  Just now that I know the resource I will go there.

Binning was always a job that my wife took on.  Now I have to do the everything-that's-not piloting and cooking as well.

(No, we're not split up, she just doen't like to travel as much as I do.)

Large Wheely bins in the small park on the offside just past the bridge after the bell and barge. At least there were two weeks ago.

Next is bottom of hilmorton locks, over the bridge and back at the furthest corner of the car park from the canal.

Forgot those ones, actually its up the first lock and by the first bridge you come to , just to pin it down a bit more
