Richard T Posted May 4 Report Posted May 4 Boating along the Soar on Saturday we shared some locks with an un-named un marked butty. The owner said its name was Star but this was obviously wrong as Star was a motor boat. It had a modified stern with an anticavitation place and vertical rudder. There was no trace of the original back cabin. The steerer was very vague about it saying he had bought it cheap, had the bottom plated at Sileby Mill recently and was going to do it up. It had a 3 pot air cooled Lister in the stern. He said he had a mooring at Proctors at Barrow. I would be interested to know of its real name and history - see the photos. We also passed one of the old BW hire boats - I think it was Water Hyacinth moored in Loughborough
archie57 Posted May 4 Report Posted May 4 It is the "Star", Midlands and Coast, as opposed to the GUCCC motor of the same name! 2
