250 Miles, a 25kg Trolley, and 1 Rescue Dog (July Charity Trek!)

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post to introduce myself and my tiny dog, Nina! This July, we’re taking on a 250-mile towpath trek to raise funds for the Canal & River Trust and Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

The catch? I’ll be hauling our tent and all our gear in a 25kg trolley and I’m completely unsupported.

We’re starting and finishing in Worcester, tackling a massive loop: the Worcester & Birmingham, Stratford, Grand Union, Coventry, T&M, Staffs & Worcs, and the BCN.

I’ll be acting as a human brake pad down the 21 at Hatton, swearing my way up the 42 at Tardebigge, and dragging the trolley overland over the Wast Hills, Braunston, and Husbands Bosworth tunnels.

A huge part of this challenge is relying entirely on the kindness of strangers. We’ll be counting on the goodwill of the canal community, local pubs, and the public for safe overnight stops to pitch our tent and a bit of sustenance to keep us moving. (A massive thanks to ABC Boat Hire and Braunston Marina who have already kicked this off by offering us some safe harbour spots - still looking for more - check the itinerary in the donations link below).

If you spot a tired-looking bloke dragging a cart with a very happy dog this July, please give us a wave or a blast of the horn! I won't be rattling a collection bucket, but I will have charity donation cards on hand if anyone fancies scanning a code to help protect the network and support rescue animals.

If you'd like to support the trek online, you can find our fundraising page here:
