Thanks all - tis true, I'm resident at RUH Bath of necessity. Just ordered my Christmas lunch for tomorrow.

 

Songbird turned up today having collected all the cards sent to home - so many I nearly burst into tears. Several people have visited this afternoon witn Christmas treats and presents. I was down in the dumps, this has all picked me up a bit.

 

Have a grand Christmas folks, go easy on the going easy, make this one count.

Thanks all - a further observations if I may...

 

It's often said of times like this that one is in the best place, as I reflect on a pleasant and undemanding day I realise just how true this is.

 

Even before the ambulance my plans had been scaled down because I'm long term unwell. Friends were coming round and making Christmas lunch in my kitchen, we'd get the guitars and the vinyl out, talk and sup until they went home, it would have been lovely, but...

 

I'm not up to it - if I'd tried I'd have made myself even more ill, if I'd kept the friends away it would have been difficult and it would have been lonely (there's a difference between lonely and alone)

 

So they phoned and messaged and had their drinks and guitars I rested, opened the presents (including Portishead abd Winter Wonderband on vinyl) - it's early evening, and I'm content. So are they. That's how it should be.
