If such an incident were to happen at that location, why wouldn't the crew simply step off onto the towpath?

Because there stupid

I’m sick of these AI ones, I just report and block if they come up on my feeds.

I have had this one blocked for months

Look at some of their other videos… clearly nonsense!

I was not aware there are others - now I know.

That will awaken quite a few boaters' fears!

Far too realistic and plausible.

If the video in the original post was real, I'd imagine that the cameraman was in more danger than the crew of the boat. It appears to be taken from the offside, mid-air, outside the channel, hanging above the ground.

One giveaway for AI slop videos is how short they are. The compute power for decent continuity kind of grows exponentially the longer the video is. Short sub 10 second ones are common. Making a full length film is a few orders of magnitude more demanding than a clip like these.

eta: Am as sick of this rubbish as the next person. One of my favourite words of recent years is 'enshittification' used to describe the dross being churned out en-masse onto the internet.

AI compute throughput is rising at astonishing speed. There is a new genre of political protest/satire broadcasts flourishing on the internet at the moment, these are a few minutes long.

Many of the canalboat youtubers are now writing lyrics for AI generated songs, most make me cringe. Melodically speaking the AI element of these songs is competent but the lyrics are like a 10 years old's first attempt at poetry.

It's going to be great isn't it? When all you can believe is what you see with your own eyes, and what you choose to believe because it fits the narrative you've "chosen" for yourself, but often will have been manipulatively planted in your psyche by the data harvested that has also been run through AI.

But hey, progress - we're making inane videos and reducing the amount of creative jobs.

Based on the copyright infringing video above, which has clearly stolen from human creativity. I will never give king bromley wharf my custom - what a moral failing.
