Hi,

People on our WM mooring are currently investigating a price hike in the rate for shoreline electricity supply.

We understand from information received from a CRT manager that:

In April of this year, the rate was increased from 26.06p / kwh to 34.65p / kwh

This is the commercial rate negotiated with the supplier, EDF Energy, and is the same as that charged to CRT for supply to their offices.

If you are currently using electricity on a WM mooring, have you noticed a jump in the rate at which you are being charged, and what is it now?

Thanks

That's not a CRT mooring, or is it?

Waterside Moorings are CRT

My understanding is that mooring providers are not allowed to charge moorers more for the electricity than they are charged themselves by their main supplier. I know CRT get a lot of things wrong, but I doubt they'd be breaking the rules about this.

I know (as in post title), perhaps I should have made clear that I was referring to Hartford Marina.

CRT managed to keep their electricity costs under control during the Ukraine war price spike and since. They have a single contract for all their power, including CRT managed moorings. An uncharacteristic case of joined up thinking for CRT, so are in a position to negotiate a good deal. Costs to boaters have been around 24 to 26p a unit for quite a few years. Sounds like they have had to negotiate a new contract on not so good terms.

No but I posted just to show the price is reasonable.

The same rise in our marina, 25p to 35p. They had to negotiate a new contract. Maybe it is the going rate, some have to pay more.

Its the same for any mooring provider, also the same for caravan sites etc.

Unless them are registered with the appropriate board as an electricity supplier/provider they can only charge users the same as they pay their supplier. They can charge less but they cannot make a profit.

That's what it says in the T&Cs on MeterMac - pretty sure we had an email at the time - and yes it's wrong by a factor of 100.
