haggis Posted October 30, 2025 Report Posted October 30, 2025 Noticing that the Dusty Miller in Wrenbury had changed hands we decided to see what it was like tonight. A vast improvement ! A bit more atmosphere with the dining and drinking areas quite busy and we both thought there was a vast improvement in the menu and the food. Ok it was a bit more expensive than normal pub grub but I would rather pay a bit more for a bit of variety and good food. I had duck from the specials board and it was excellent We will go back ! 3 1
johnmoly Posted October 30, 2025 Report Posted October 30, 2025 It must be eight years since we were last in there, the food was very good although they had just switched menus and left two old cards in the new lot, so two of us picked meals from the old ones and of course when they came they were different than ordered. The manager refused payment on two of them and gave the four of us a free round of drinks on the house.
alan_fincher Posted October 31, 2025 Report Posted October 31, 2025 Dusty Miller is also the name of a well respected canal artist. I guessed wrongly what this thread is about!
Opener Posted November 2, 2025 Report Posted November 2, 2025 Me too! It's the traditional name for the old standard cottage garden plant, primula auricula. Also known as auricula ursi or bears ears.
haggis Posted November 2, 2025 Author Report Posted November 2, 2025 Sorry ! I should have made the heading clearer but I assumed because I had mentioned the Dusty Miller ( pub) a few days earlier all would be clear 😄
