How to use our maps

Our maps are designed to help you find the things you need on the UK Canal & River network. We don't maps locks, bridges etc, but we do map things like Pump Out & Elsan Stations, Marina and Moorings, Pubs, Restaurant's and Cafes, Laundry's, Supermarkets and local shops. We also include things worth visiting along your way.

We include maps of Individual Canals and Rivers, Canal Rings (sorry last ones to be updated), and many more (See the menu above or click on the drop-down on the right hand side of the screen).

You probably know which canal you are on, but to help you locate yourself on a map we include a number of simple controls (Also see image at bottom of this article):-
  • Zoom In/Out Buttons - You know how these work, you can also double click on the map to zoom into that location.
  • Full Screen - Why not use all the screen on your device
  • Default settings - Returns the map to its initial settings
  • Locate Me - Finds you on the map, your device settings allowing, it does not report this back to us (We don't care where you are!)
  • Text Search - Want to find a listing? You can enter part of the name, Post code or anything we have stored about them in our system.
  • Search Results - The results of your text search will appear here, also you map may zoom to the location of the results.
  • Clickable Icons - Each location icon can be clicked on to find further information about a place, including the address, website and lots more information and links.
  • Buy me a coffee - If you want to support our mapping, please click this coffee icon and send me enough ££$$ to buy a coffee or two

Just had a look at the Wey Navigation, as it's our local one, and it returns an "Oops not found ". Is it a work in progress or an error on my part?

Wouldn't be the first time. 🙂

Went straight in for me, via the drop-down waterway selection.

You're most correct.  It's worked for me using the drop down menus.

I originally tried clicking on the River Wey Navigation under the Individual Canal Maps listing further down the page under the Rings.  This still gives me the error although the River Weaver above is fine.  Drop downs it is.

Many thanks.

As you said, work in progress. I just hope the OP takes your post as a bug report and fixes it. Sounds like a missing or incorrect hyperlink to me,

Still doesn't work for me. (Clicking on "River Wey Navigation").

At Farncombe: "Hector's on the Wey" has closed and been replaced by "River Walk Cafe". Lidl is right next to the navigation in Guildford.

Well it relies on users to supply the info I guess.

Unfortunately I won't use the webpage as it has the most annoying of cookies popups which you can't easily and quickly reject everything ('legitimate interest' my arse) , so I've no idea what info it already has <shrug>

Theatr Brycheiniog at Brecon Basin at the head of the M & B also has a very good cafe.

Nor me but, as Tony said, the drop down menus do work fine.

Its a handy resource so many thanks to the creators for what has been a lot of work.

We hope to be wandering up the Wey next week so will see what the "River Walk Cafe" is like.
