Bathroom mirror

The bathroom mirror on my Aqualine narrowboat is cracked and I want to replace it. However, I can't fathom out how to access it, it's in a wood surround and there's no sign of screw covers or clips. Being Aqualine, I'm sure there some smart way of concealing everything.

Drilled and plugged? Look for slightly fainter circular areas or circles of grain that don't marry up.

Or, it could be hung on concealed keyhole brackets, try pushing the entire thing upwards.

Or, worst case, it's just glued to the bulkhead

If it's held on with double-sided sticky foam tape -- which works surprisingly well, especially where there's vibration around like on a boat -- it shouldn't be too difficult to remove and replace after repairing it.

The lower surround appears to be sat on the granite top, the upper surround against the strip light ceiling, the left surround butt's against the side panel and the right surround butt's against the wall panel.

If I was being cynical - I'd say keyhole brackets and the strip light added later! (First rule of DIY, never consider those who come after...)

Sounds very plausible. Or even installed at the same time, but in the "correct" order.

Edit: One of my go-to techniques in situations like this is to start dismantling any adjacent fittings that can be dismantled and might conceal a fixing.

If I was being cynical -- I'd say double-side sticky is quicker and easier and cheaper than keyhole brackets... (same rule!)

If i was being extra cynical -- I'd say why source some double-sided sticky tape when you've got a tube of Sikaflex/Gripfill/NoMoreNails etc. sat right there from some other part of the fitout... (same rule with bells on!)

However you then need to find a way of holding the mirror in place until the goo dries... 😉

Well leaves a big black streak across his mirror some wide sellotape or greenhouse glass tape would cover the crack ...

You could try phoning The New & Used Boat Co [ Aqualine] and ask them how its been fitted.

Other colours of gaffer tape are available. Colour coordination wirh the bathroom decor theme is possible. Not just black. Apologies, just my sense of himour.

Why not just cover the mirror with a picture of yourself with a clean shaven face and perfect completion. Hair neatly groomed. Big smile showing you lovely white teeth. It would save you a lot of time on a morning and start your day of on a high. 😁

Or the face of someone better looking entirely. There is only so much that can be done to gild the lily. 😁

Just pinch a photo from the local barbers shop. I never come out looking like the one I told the barber I what that style. 😁

But make it slightly smaller, given the old, close-fitting one cracked!
