"Starting Friday 25 July 2025, navigation will be closed from Lock 71, Middlewich to Lock 41, Hardingswood to help prolong the supply of water to the south of the canal."

 

I really can't see the point of having a boat any more.

Have merged the two topics started simultaneously. Clearly the closure notice has been arriving in people's inboxes. 

Will need to rethink my own cruising plans. Not going to reach here in time.

The gods are coming to get us!!!  on our move from Droitwich to Aston Marina now moored under a tree in tixall wide..... only 4 hrs to go ... can we make it tomorrow!!!!!!

No closures currently between you and Aston.  I may see you go past as I am in Great Haywood.

Saw reports of that and people walking in to Walsall basin again which is also currently carpeted in duck weed.

CRT have done this several times now. The water level seems to recover overnight and it reopens the next day. 

I hope it does as I want to get through before it shuts for 3 days from Tuesday for proper repairs.

I've just been through Weston lock which is pouring water through the side of the top gates.

I hope the repair fixes it. I am going to start the climb from Middlewich tomorrow on my return route to Calcutt

I suspect that closing Cheshire Locks, 41 to 71 is in order to preserve water levels in Harecastle Tunnel.  The only water for these locks is from the Macclefield which has had severe problems all year and of course the dam in Whalley doesn't help. Bosley reservoir is very low.

We're safely back at Aston Marina.... looks like we wont be doing any new routes for a few weeks/months??!!  Looks like we'll be using the boat as a cottage and driving around the area for the time being!

Start planning your next mooring. 

Well you were at Tattenhall for a short while then Droitwich for a short while. Also at Ventnor Farm for a short while I think
