Anyone else just got high from the smoke of a passing boat (didn't get it's name, but green and loud punk music) just outside Brentford? Blimey! They must be high as kites!

This isn't a thread about weed growth in our rivers and canals then?

More the growth in weed! 😶‍🌫️ (Is that smoke or bubbles)?

Came past a scruffy boat that had a dinghy alongside on which had been built a tent of polythene sheet on a frame of garden canes. The interior of the polythene was covered in heavy condensation, so I couldn't make out exactly what the lush green vegetation inside was...

They obviously don't keep it in their weed hatch then. A misnomer if ever I heard one as it makes it soggy and harder to light.

Isn't that where composting toilet owners empty their Can a piss during the wee hours?

Cabbages, maybe.

One of the comedy shows on radio 4 did a cabbages skit many years ago.

"I'm worried my neighbour is growing cannabis but they told me it's cabbage, what should I do?"

"Try some.  If you're still worried, it's definitely cabbage!"

They are classed as hazardous waste. We had a load dumped in the village. Reported as fly tipping and the council came and put hazard tape round them and took weeks to get a specialist contractor to clear them up.

One of my first canal holidays was on a weed boat, I think it was Cottonweed.

We had a holiday on Cottonweed in 1989.

I've always worried about the attention that their boat 'Jimsonweed' garners from passing plods...

It's actually perfectly legal if they have a valid prescription which is becoming increasingly common in the UK.

Talking to a pharmacist it’s not commonly prescribed as it’s only for certain types of epilepsy and MS usually. Has to be started by a specialist too. Around 100 prescriptions issued in a year in Gloucestershire so probably for 10 or 12 people out of 650,000+   (1 prescription lasts around a month or so)

It’s obviously not prescribed as stuff to smoke which is where the smell comes from

Medicinal cannabis can be prescribed through the NHS albeit rarely, but many private clinics with registered specialist doctors also offer prescriptions - though in these cases, it is provided privately rather than through NHS-affiliated pharmacies.

Even when legally prescribed, smoking medicinal cannabis remains illegal. Vaporisation is permitted, yet it still produces noticeable odours within the immediate vicinity.

Unfortunately, many NHS professionals and authorities, including the police, remain uninformed about the legal status of medicinal cannabis - especially when prescribed by authorised and regulated private clinics. This widespread lack of awareness only reinforces outdated stigma, making it harder for patients to access treatment without judgment.
