When we had a fire on a boat in the marina we had 6 vehicles sign written as ambulances but only 2 actually were. Being on the water the crews would need life jackets which means support vehicles plus, of course a command vehicle.

3 of the ambulances are hazardous area response teams (HART) and I expect one is an incident commander so not technically ambulances

HMO - It is occupied by more that one family (ie unrelated individuals)

A few years ago there were several boats of multiple occupancy on the Thames, three of them owned by one person.

 

I think they were removed as they did not have a mooring and were also deemed unsafe.

You answer by telling them your job.

Yet with a house you seem to suggest it is not it's job but how many occupants so 

HMO should mean House of Multiple Occupants

I've often wondered as to why air ambulances are deployed in particular cases. A few years ago a neighbours elderly, confused father climbed out of his bedroom window onto a flat roof. The emergency services were called, the police ambulance and fire brigade. All fair and reasonable. Amazingly an air ambulance helicopter landed in a field a few hundred yards away. The nearest major hospital is less than 1.5 miles away by road.

Doesn’t mean the local hospital has a major trauma unit though or even an AnE appropriate for a fall from height

'Houseboat' was the wrong word. It was a 22' fibreglass cruiser, per the Thames Facebook group.

But I know the hospital in question and it has both (it's less than 1.5 miles from my front door)
