Stilllearning Posted May 12 Report Posted May 12 I'm not sure if this is good publicity, what do you think?
robtheplod Posted May 12 Report Posted May 12 its all publicity for the canals which is good. The piano boat last week was very sad .. and all the YouTube vlogs I've seen Julie & Martin in i never picked up he didn't like tunnels - maybe they hammed it up - their 'angle' ?
matty40s Posted May 12 Report Posted May 12 Ah, yes, because everybody sits there and watches Ch4 when we have to work and the suns out....

They need to slow down though, I'm sure they implied they were going to get to Harecastle from Windmill End in half a day. 1

You don't think there is enough misleading ol' tosh about canals in the media already? Or maybe 'misleading' is wrong in this case? I haven't watched it as I don't have a telly!

PeterF Posted May 12 Report Posted May 12 (edited) You have entirely the wrong piano boat. https://www.thepianoboat.com/ Edited May 12 by PeterF

It's a widebeam on the southern GU that has a grand piano on it. Spoiler alert: it had a couple on it who ran concerts aboard, chap played the piano and lady did the catering. Chap died from some nasty disease. Not a good outcome. 1

Quatre_Bougies Posted May 23 Report Posted May 23 Looking at a few of the muppets on this series, No, they aren’t doing anyone any favours!

Just seen the last 5 minutes of tonights and the couple spent £1500 to get there boat through the BSS. I take it they didn't have a survey . Just watching on 4+1 now

The so called friend expert could of done a lot better in the advise, husband hanging on the side and front, boat all over the lock, rotary washing line that could get caught up, roof full of crap, husband getting dragged trying to stop the boat with line. So called expert needs to evaluate his status and teaching. Seems the dream has financially skinted them with no savings to fall back on. Can’t see him getting work painting boats with rattle tin graffiti. How are they going to school the child? Will give them a year before it gets too much and everything folds in on them🤔 Edited May 24 by BoatingLifeUpNorth2
Lady M Posted May 24 Report Posted May 24 Time will tell. I was impressed by her determination to make it work. I think the BSS cost may have been due to converting a leisure use boat to liveaboard. She said that the cooker and water heater were 'condemned'. I don't know about the water heater but perhaps the cooker didn't have flame failure devices.

There is usually the option to repair the fault to make it safe. An option often conveniently forgotten about by gas technicians hoping to sell new appliances.
Lady M Posted May 24 Report Posted May 24 Her words not mine. Perhaps a BSS person would not know whether a particular appliance could be repaired or altered.

The thing is we don’t know how much the production company is paying/contributing to each boat involved in the series. I’ve heard that all the blackening costs were paid for by the production company for the mum & daughter to blacken her boat, featured in week one, also the Leopard print wallpaper was paid for 🐆🐆 Without work being carried out by the boaters featured, the programme may not be so watchable for non-boaters.🤔 Edited May 24 by BoatingLifeUpNorth2

So it's possible that they don't either.
