Lock gate collar has been broken

Updates to follow

A quick fix?

What do we reckon team?

I'm asking as I'm wondering if I might have to turn right at Wigram's Turn instead of left, en route to London next week.

2 hours max but it depends where the standard stock item called a collar strap is kept and if anyone is aware of it.

Thats if the 'lock gate collar' actuallymeans the strap itself or might the anchor be broken. If it is the anchor its more serious. Hopefully just the strap and its on a shelf in a BW (oops CRT) shed somewhere nearby.

That one was broken last Summer too, we were allowed assisted passage through 1 gate as the other was tied and propped shut. For some reason, we had to turn the engine off too!

If it’s the repair of last years fix that’s broken it may not be straightforward. It involved fabrication of a bespoke bracket to join the heel post, collar, and top cross rail.

Because that's what the method statement said 🙂.

The gate was in a fairly fragile state and it was deemed sensible to make everyone turn their engines off because *some* boaters seem to like revving the nuts off them when in a lock, which could have led to further problems. Although, if going down the lock, it would probably not matter; one method statement fits all.
