I'm exploring the idea of a macerator toilet. Looking at the Leesan site they sell standard height toilets and lower height ones. Is it simply a case of the lower height ones being meant to be positioned on a plinth/step or am I missing something?

As opposed to talking it....😁

I suspect the 'low' option is to account for mounting of the contraption on top of the holding tank.

But I know nothing about them really. Maybe you can tell!

Or in small boat-shaped boats where the hull sides curve in above internal floor level.

Sensible suggestion from David but seems like no one really knows.

I was wondering if the lower height ones allow for the use of a plinth which could house the plumbing.

I shall have to talk to Leesan.

I'm not worried about dealing with blockages. It's only processed food.

I feel that Lee Sanitation became too successful and degraded the quality of their products for financial advantage.

Not sure how many competitors there are but its a crap situation if nobody else is dealing with this sort of shit.

I'd speak to Leesan, they are usually very helpful.

Plumbing tends to be round the back rather than underneath so doubt you will need a plinth for the plumbing etc.

I think the comment about boat shaped boats was correct for the heads .

When we had our first narrowboat built I measured the height of our WC at home and asked for to be the same on the boat. This meant a 40mm high plinth was needed under the bowl (Domestic Vacuflush) This made the seat about 18 inches above the floor.

When your knees start giving up you will appreciate the extra. However, if you have a shorter partner then you may have to compromise.

I've had one for 11 years now and never had a blockage.

I do however instruct the crew not to put anything down it that they haven't previously eaten unless it is toilet paper.

Let's hope I'm not tempting fate with this post... 🤣
