haggis Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 I just realised that I hadn't seen any posts from MRSmelly for a while and looking at his profile his last post was in December.. I know he didn't enjoy good health but does anyone know if he is OK? Hopefully he is just taking a break from the forum and will be back soon
Gybe Ho Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 I thought Mrs. Melly was cohabiting with Mr. Smelly. Maybe they split up because he could not be bothered to fix the shower on NB Noeaudorous 2 1
Graham Davis Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 I understand he decided to take a break from here, at the same time as Phil left.

Wanderer Vagabond Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 (edited) I think @peterboat can probably fill in details of where Mrsmelly now is. My understanding (which may well be incorrect) is that he objected to having 'warning points' applied, so decamped (willing to be corrected). Edited March 7 by Wanderer Vagabond
tree monkey Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 I've been wondering where he has got to, I know he has been a bit poorly, hope he is OK 3 hours ago, Graham Davis said: the same time as Phil left. Has Phil left?

To be honest I'm flattered as Smelly spoke a lot of sense built on decades of experience as far as I could tell, whereas I just blunder around the forum in almost total ignorance. Never been sure whether it was 'Mr Smelly' or 'Mrs Melly' given the stated gender as female, but that could have just been japes. Hope (s)he is ok. 3 1
BilgePump Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 ^^^ As she said Hoping he's okay and just downtiming from the forum. Never met IRL and politics not the same but an appreciated, friendly, knowledgeable and funny member here. Even if he has become a landubber. 1
Victor Vectis Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 We met him a long while back when he was running the cafe at Heyford. Polar opposite on politics but a nice man. Yes, I hope he and his are OK. 2

Totally correct, he has also had a kidney transplant so is fairly poorly. 2 hours ago, MrsM said: No connection. I don't know what his 'warning points' were supposed to be for, I make a point of not complaining about anybody because none of it is that important. Perhaps he'll view the 'warning points' in the same light and consider a return . Hope that he mends well, is that his first kidney transplant? I thought he had a previous one following his incident when he was in the Police
Ange Posted March 8 Report Posted March 8 If I remember correctly from when I've overstepped the mark and received a warning you have to press a button acknowledging and accepting the warning before you can post again. It's my understanding that Tim refuses to do this. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong. 1

Well I was told what my transgression was and I accepted that I was playing in someone else's playground and I had to accept their rules. This is a privately owned and run forum, the decisions may seem arbitrary at times but I either accept them or leave. Tim has chosen to leave, I chose differently. I was a member of the moderating team at one time and I know how difficult their job is and the balance they have to reach between freedom of speech and abiding by the forum rules and guidelines. 8 2

I take my hat off to the moderators. An ongoing and largely thank-less task, with always a chance of copping abuse. And I wish mrsmelly all the best in his current challenges. 7 2
