Another adventure,

I’m sure I’m not the only one who likes reading about Kelpie’s travels,

We now have a super shiny boat as KELPIE has just been repainted by Bob at Northwich dry dock and she looks fabulous !  As the lift will be out of commission for quite some time we are going back to Park Farm via the MSC. . What hoops we have to jump through!  With the help   of Matt at the dry dock everything is booked  and we have the MSC booked for Thursday. After an uneventful drive down ( mostly on the dry ) we put up.our new curtains ( only took us an hour too hang 4 curtains) and we then moored opposite the marina and the plan is to visit the super Indian restaurant round the corner.  I am knackered but Iain is buzzing around doing boaty things. 😄

Photos please.

Enjoy your meal and good luck with Chester

Thank you. We have Northgate sorted as Chris, a VLK who we met on the Standedge trip , has a friend who moors on the Dee branch and  is coming to help us. Chris might be there too and it would be good to meet up again.

We will take some as soon as  we get a photo opportunity but they are always too big to post here. We have kept the same colours and have even had new KELPIE head vinyls made

Day ,2 and we start our journey back to the canals but first we had things to do

Iain took the car to Park Farm and walked back. Why not get a taxi back, you might ask but he said he enjoyed the walk. After a quick belated  lunch we moved over to the pontoons and visited the good butcher and greengrocer then we moved again and filled up with water. As the water  pump had been running when it shouldn't have been, we kept it switched off till Iain could investigate when we moored above Saltersford lock ready for our descent tomorrow morning. It's not looking good as there is water in the cabin bilge at the stern and the basin the pump sits on was full of water. Sweary words are emerging 😄.

Although we have started our journey back to our mooring we could have done without a water leak somewhere.

I know, but you know Iain is an independent guy and thst would be too easy

Hopefully the water leak is now fixed and he is having a well earned whisky before we eat. Talking about eating, the meal last night was excellent and they even gave us a liqueur when we paid the bill !

Things haven't changed then.

No and it is as a nice start to our time on KELPIE when I expect we will be eating on board most nights.

Quick note on the water pump saga:

Problem was leak on the outlet of the pump, at the Jabsco quick release connection. Attempts to rectify with self amalgamating tape failed (would have tried thread tape if any on board; added to shopping list!). Seal on connection is an “O” ring, so needs a new one. Luckily, spare pump on board, with a label on it saying “refurbished for share 2012”. Changed pump. Sweating a bit in case of incompatibility of various threads, but OK. Bit doubtful about seals on the connecting hoses, so will change them at some point. After changing pump, found a bit of hose with a Jabsco connector on it, with a hose barb rather than a BSP thread. Should have used the “O” ring off of that!
