It would never be possible to do them all during the Challenge. Realistically you can only do one of Curdworth, Delph or Wolverhampton which are dead ends.

 

As I recall the 100 locks attempt only worked with a finish at Titford and including the ability to score the Walsall flight in both directions. In reality I doubt it would have been possible in 24 hours even without getting stuck at Walsall.

 

 

 

Yes we started at the bottom of the 21 and the finish was at Titford.  We were on target and on our way back down Walsall when we got stuck in lock 7.  Having already gone up Walsall we thought we would be ok but the bottom gate of lock 7 would no longer open fully and we had to reverse back up.

I remember when it would have been 6 extra locks - Garrison 5 and Nechells Shallow Lock which I seem to recall had a rise of about 6". No gates or paddles now and you go through on the level, so presumably the pound from there to Garrison Bottom lock is 6" lower than it used to be.

The stop lock at Warwick Bar before joining the Digbeth Branch does have all four gates although they're fixed? open.
