LOCATIONS: Harvington Lock

A narrowboat has sunk in the lock. The lock is closed until the boat has been recovered and any further damage to the lock assessed. ANT team is on route to attend.

All crew on board evacuated safely.

There is also severe damage to the bridge at Bidford just upstream after an Uber got jammed across the bridge. Navigation is ok but the road is closed.

Update


LOCATIONS: Harvington Lock

The ANT team attended Harvington Lock and worked through the night until the early hours of today to refloat the sunken vessel. We are pleased to report the salvage was successful and once final checks to the lock have been carried out the lock will be open for navigation from 10:00am today.

Please be aware when navigating through the lock there may be debris from the boat still in the lock.

Very strange that people can't drive along a road without hitting a bridge, mind you these Uber drivers seem to work to some sort of timetable. I had one, who insisting in driving at thirty mph even though i kept asking him to slow down,, I had left the boat in a rural area, so I needed him to go slowly so I could identify the drop off point. No tip given.

They don't seem to know where they are, just glued to a device on the dash.

I'll never use Uber again.

That's quite an achievement getting it wedged like that

It is, I must admit my first thought was that, with care, boats could be got through with a sunken boat there, but I guess the risk assessment would give the the assessor apoplexy. You did what? :o
