Heard rumours about this several months ago, but when nothing happened I dismissed it. But now it has happened! Not sure if this will be good or bad for moorers (us!). Their new Mancetter marina looks very nice, but it’s quite expensive I think.

Yes, I was talking to someone the other day who said it’s expensive at Mancetter.
And they don’t have the facilities that Fazely Marina offers either. All looks very smart and new.

I hope they don’t bump up the prices too much and they keep Jackie on 😃

I’ve used Fazeley on and off in the past for mooring. And I usually drop in for diesel when passing.

 Chalked up on a board.

why can’t other places be so clear? ain’t there a law about displaying prices?

Orchard, their sister marina and Streethay do as well.

It's like places that sell any other high value items, like expensive jewelry, or Swiss watches. They also don't do anything as vulgar as price tags.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it. 😀

Not quite true, Just below Stone at Aston Marina are normally a good price but don't advertise it, I wasn't expecting it.

We went into Fazeley for a pump out earlier today and they happily accepted cash.  She did say they are in a transition period so things are being written down and also recorded in an app.   I did notice a lack of the usual boating items for sale but they did have various lubricants.

Yes I think the stock in the shop belonged to ABC and was not part of the sale, although basics such as coal and gas are still available. ABC's accounting system will have been withdrawn. I think the shop will be restocked in due course.

All the stock went into the building to the left of the shower block.

People are now complaining on Facebook that the marina is only allowing use of the boaters facilities if you arrive by boat

Oh. Is this surprising? Surely you are only a "boater" in this context if you are on a boat. Just because you might own a boat doesn't, for example, entitle you to deposit rubbish from your house into CRT boater facility rubbish skips.  Facebook is full of people complaining about something.

We use to stop by the water point and dump the rubbish while filling with water

I think it is fair enough. But the numpties who live on their boats and take their portable potties are now having to drive to Grendon or Fradley.

But that is surely still OK? I haven't read the FB whinging but I presumed it was about people arriving by car /van. If they are going to refuse refuse from boats moored just oustide, the answer is to clog up the services point by taking the boat into the marina to fill with water and then dump rubbish

I suppose the other thing is that CRT had an agreement with FMM to allow boaters to use the elsan and rubbish and water FOC after they closed the fazeley facilities - presumably they paid FMM / ABC leisure for the privilege. Perhaps the agreement hasn't been transferred to Rothen?

Which is probably a bit unfair as I understand CRT paid towards the use of those facilities by CRT licence holders when they closed the ones near where their office was .

I suspect that something read on facebook is not necessarily the whole story.

But even if Rothen are being paid to act as a CRT boater services point and they are not doing so, this will be sorted out fairly quickly once the dust has settled. I must say I didn't realise people drove their shit around in the car, but I guess it takes all sorts!
