Pressed ally CRT plates

Featured Posts

Both my boats are missing a pressed ally CRT number plate. Does anyone know of a firm making them to order please?

I asked CRT some while ago and all they could offer was to print some and encapsulate them in plastic film for me.

Getting them sign-written on I guess would probably be quite expensive and I'm reluctant to use stick-on lettering.

A motor factors that knocks up car number plates might help.

Get a stencil and paint them on

Prior to our repaint the numbers on our boat were stick on ones, they had lasted 17yrs with no sign of deterioration.

But as we were getting sign-written anyway we had them painted on this time.

Can't give you an idea of price as it wasn't itemised, just a total.

Horrible things, they never look smart.  I thought CRT sold stick on ones?  What do they provide to new licence holders? I know that they are not alloy.

I've got a couple you can have, but there is only a choice of one number...

BRILLIANT idea, with your number on my boat I'll be able to moor wherever I want, for as long as I want!

I watched Robin Wagg signwrite our numbers on. It didn't take him long at all and imo it looks way better than the metal plates. If you can coincide with when a signwriter is nearby I'm sure it wouldn't cost too much.

Yes I have press tooling for 0, 2, 4, 6 and 7 and a BW crest, I successfully remade mine. If you could supply a scan (from a printer/scanner) of your licence plate (or a good photo taken square on) I'll CAD up other numbers and knock out whatever is required

I'm sure it used to be possible to get replacement index number plates from BW/CRT.  Is there any way of finding out if they have stopped offering metal plates to newly registered boats?

You can still order plates in the Boating Shop section of the CRT licensing page once you've logged in, they don't provide any example pics though so you can see what you're getting for your money.

It does seem, as  stated above, metal index plates are available from C&RT via your online account . At £20 plus delivery a pair.

When I pre-registered my boat to get an index number before launch and getting a license (needed for insurance etc), I not only got a number but also two metal number plates. IIRC this cost £20 total... 😉

Thank you Hudds Lad and IanD.  I was bit surprised that a log in was needed to access the CRT boaters shop.  I can't set up an online licence account because my other half won't use one.

I hope mtb will be content with this information.  It does appear that the person he spoke with at CRT may have not given the full details.
